Kevin de León can’t quit Claremont / The Student Life, 2017-18
Kevin de León is not on time.
When he returned to his alma mater Pitzer College in April, a rally he planned started late, when most students were at lunch in the dining hall. The crowd he did gather — some students, dining hall staff, administrators, and community members — perched on the grass, separated some hundred feet from his podium under the Southern Californian sun, as de León delivered a forceful rebuke of President Trump’s immigration policies and Democratic foot-shuffling in the shadow of a presidency de León saw as ending in impeachment.
I covered De León’s relationship to Pitzer as he went from a lauded alum to a statewide campaigner.
